To date, there has been no market for certified organic goat and supply is limited. There are virtually no producers of organic goat in Australia except for a few larger producers in Qld and Western NSW.
As for Natural goat, the supply is abundant depending on the nature of the program. If a program could be based on a Statutory Declaration that states - no antibiotics, no vaccinations, no HGPs and no chemical inputs at all -- then there would be a large supply. This Natural program would be a good
basis to start and gives suppliers time to take the next step to being certified organic. Most goat suppliers in Australia would take this next step towards organics if they saw a premium. At this stage though, the only reason our goat is certified organic is because they are secondary to beef and lamb.
Ninety-five percent of goat in Australia are grown in rangeland conditions requiring no artificial inputs whatsoever - if you are interested in organic or natural goat please contact us to discuss a program.
